With the ODT, are you forced to download the whole Office installation every time you want to update the clients? It seems like this is how it is designed, but the clients will only update the necessary files even though you have to download the full installation. I'm currently testing this out and had a question. I check in here once a month to see what's going on. That is absolutely true! Out of curiosity, do you run these updates once a month when Microsoft releases them? I'm not entirely sure how often Office 2016 receives it's updates to be honest. Like I said, I don't like it, but it's better than having all the machines pull direct from MS without any control at all.
The downside is that it adds another element to monthly updates that is just unnecessary considering the ability to point to WSUS is technically there, just not with the C2R versions.Īgreed. I don't like that either, but at least there is some control of updates, if you specify your update location in the XML file. Instead of online, but with C2R that is not possible. Using the MSI was so Office could point to my WSUS server for updates
